#105 Kogarasu Maru in Pattern Welded Laminate Iron Kobuse

#105 Kogarasu Maru. Double bo-hi. Crow motif. High polish. Blood red saya. Red wrap over black samegawa.

This is one of my two favorites of Atar's 125 Japanese blades. The other is the kogarasu maru I kept for my own collection. This one is just as nice. I'm even tempted to keep them both...

The kogarasu maru is the evolutionary step between the double edged Japanese Ken and the single edged tachi and katana.

Highly polished generation 3 kogarasu maru with pattern welded laminate damascus blade from 1070, L-6, and 1095 high carbon spring steels in Iron Kobuse construction. Very subtle pattern. Fine hada. Nice hamon.

The sword is 46 3/4" overall with a 32 1/4" blade. It weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces.
